The paths of Santorini have recently been designated and the location of Santorini Heights is ideal for hiking ventures. Walk up to the neighboring Monastery of Prophet Ilias (10 minutes), down to the village of Pyrgos (20 minutes) or even lower, to the village of Emporio (40 minutes).
The other path will take you to one of Santorini’s main attractions, the ruins of Ancient Thera, a city built by Spartan settlers during the 8th century B.C. The remains of the agora, the theatre, the houses and the temples with the stunning view to the Aegean will amaze you. The route from Santorini Heights to Ancient Thera lasts approximately one hour. From Ancient Thera you can walk to the beach of Kamari (40 minutes) or to the beach of Perissa (50 minutes).
Let’s imagine that you want to leave your very own pool at Santorini Heights. Just a fifteen minute drive away are the two charming volcanic beaches with black sands and crystal clear waters; Perivolos and Perissa. Both beaches are fully organized and extremely popular. Another choice is the secluded beach of Vlychada, surrounded by volcanic rock cliffs that give out an almost lunar sensation.
